Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G H5000 sound alarm module is a key component of the H5000 instrumentation and autopilot system. Designed to emit clear, fully configurable audio alerts, it ensures that critical warnings generated by the network are heard, thereby enhancing safety and situational awareness aboard. This module connects directly to the system network, working in tandem with the H5000 central processing unit (CPU) and B&G displays (such as Graphic Display or Race Display) to relay alarms audibly. Unlike analog or serial expansion modules that handle sensor inputs, the alarm module is specifically dedicated to outputting critical information in audible form.
Network integration and configuration
The H5000 alarm module integrates onto the system’s CAN bus, NMEA 2000-compatible, offering optimal installation flexibility. It can be positioned anywhere on the boat where an audio alert is required. Alarms are configurable via the H5000 system interface, allowing thresholds to be set for a wide range of parameters such as depth, wind speed, navigation warnings (waypoints, MOB) or other critical data monitored by the navigation system. This integration enables deep customization of alerts tailored to the navigator’s specific needs and sailing conditions.
Technical specifications
The H5000 sound alarm module is powered at 12 V DC (9–16 V range) directly via the NMEA 2000 network. Its power consumption is 0.6 W, or under 50 mA at 12 V, equivalent to a load of 1 LEN on the NMEA 2000 network, minimizing impact on the system’s overall power supply. Constructed from robust ABS, its dimensions are 61 x 131 x 45 mm (L x H x D) with a weight of 0.17 kg. The housing meets IPx4 waterproofing standards, providing protection against splashes. Its safe distance from a compass is 0.3 m (1.0 ft.).
