Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for managing a single battery to a single load group, the BLUE SEA 6004B-BSS M series ON/OFF battery switch provides reliable isolation for marine electrical systems and vehicles. This model features a continuous current rating of 300A, an intermittent current rating of 500A (5 min), and a starting current of 900A (30 sec). Its maximum voltage of 48V DC makes it compatible with a wide range of installations.
Design and Technical Features
The 6004B-BSS battery switch is equipped with 3/8" (M10) tinned copper terminals, ensuring maximum conductivity and enhanced corrosion resistance. The one-piece terminal stud design prevents loosening over time. The IP66 protection rating guarantees resistance to dust and powerful water jets, making it suitable for demanding marine environments. This model complies with UL 1500 and SAE J1171 standards for external ignition protection and is UL 1107 listed, also meeting ABYC requirements for battery switches.
Positioning in the BLUE SEA Range
Within the BLUE SEA battery switch range, the 6004B-BSS M series is positioned as a compact and secure solution for single-circuit isolation. Unlike the selector models in the E or HD series, which manage multiple battery banks or allow combinations, the M series, and this model in particular, focuses on simplicity and safety with an ON/OFF switch featuring a locking key. This removable key feature provides additional security, acting as a service lockout device to prevent accidental activation or deactivation of the DC system, particularly during maintenance operations. Its "mini" format makes it ideal for installations where space is limited, such as on small outboard motors or generators.
