Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for protecting high-current circuits in marine systems, the BLUE SEA MRBF terminal fuse block is a compact solution for applications ranging from 30 to 300 amps. This device mounts directly onto the battery terminal, eliminating the need for long fuse cables and reducing connection points for improved reliability. It is rated for 12/24V systems and uses an M8 stud for the connection.
Protection of main circuits
The MRBF (Mega/Medium Rated Bolt-down Fuse) concept differs from traditional inline fuse holders by its compact format and ability to handle high currents. Unlike ATO/ATC fuses or maxi-fuses, the MRBF is specifically designed for starter circuits, windlasses, or inverters, where 30 to 300 amp protection is required. It provides an alternative to thermal circuit breakers for primary battery protection, particularly on sailboats and powerboats with space constraints, while complying with ABYC standards for battery circuit protection.
Installation and compatibility
Installation of the BLUE SEA MRBF terminal fuse block is simplified by its design, which allows direct mounting onto the battery terminal. This approach reduces cable bulk and weight while minimizing potential voltage drops. It is compatible with 12V and 24V electrical systems, covering a wide range of recreational vessels and small workboats. For lower currents or secondary circuits, BLUE SEA offers other solutions such as ST Blade fuse blocks or resettable circuit breakers, but the MRBF remains the reference for protecting high-current main circuits.
