Detailed description
Detailed description
The Blue Sea Systems 1464-BSS DC distribution panel is an integrated solution for managing a vessel’s electrical systems, providing centralized protection and control of circuits. Designed as part of Blue Sea’s 360 Panel System modular lineup, this model features 12 positions with circuit breaker (CLB) switches and a square meter for monitoring. It stands out for its ability to handle 12V or 12/24V DC systems, as well as AC systems of 120V, 230V, and 240V, thanks to the flexibility of the 360 range.
Design and Technical Specifications
This panel is constructed with a 0.125" thick 5052 aluminum metal frame, powder-coated in black, and ASA UV-stabilized polycarbonate fascias for durability suited to interior marine environments. The integrated busbars support a nominal current of 100 amperes, reaching 200 amperes if the main power cable is connected to the center of the bus. The backlighting system for labels and circuit status indicators consumes 2.75 milliamperes per nominal circuit at 12V DC, and can be converted to 24V DC via the PN 4113 conversion kit (not included).
Comparison and Positioning
Unlike multifunction displays (MFD) from brands such as Garmin or Raymarine, which integrate digital switching functions, the Blue Sea Systems 1464-BSS takes a traditional and robust approach to power distribution. It targets users seeking a dedicated and reliable solution for circuit protection and basic monitoring, without the complexity of integrated digital systems. Its modularity within the 360 Panel System allows for custom configuration, a feature less common in pre-assembled panels from some competitors. It is important to note that this panel is not waterproof and must be installed in a location protected from water spray, a critical consideration for onboard installation planning.
