Detailed description
Detailed description
The Blue Sea Systems HD-Series 3002-BSS battery selector is an electrical management component designed for demanding marine installations. With a continuous rating of 500 A, it is suitable for large diesel engines and high-consumption systems, positioning itself above the brand’s m-Series (300 A continuous) and e-Series (350 A continuous) ranges. It supports a cranking rating of 1,600 A for 30 seconds and an intermittent rating of 700 A for 5 minutes, all at a maximum voltage of 32 V DC.
Safety and Robustness
This selector features a "Make-Before-Break" contact design, allowing switching between battery banks without interrupting power to equipment. The M12-1.75 (1/2") tinned copper studs, 22.22 mm (7/8") long, ensure maximum conductivity and high corrosion resistance while accommodating multiple 4/0 AWG (120 mm²) cable lugs. The recommended tightening torque for these studs is 24.86 N·m (220 in-lb).
Installation and Compliance
The 3002-BSS housing is designed for versatile mounting, either surface or rear-panel. It fully complies with American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) requirements for battery switches, is UL 1107 listed for electrical power switches, and meets UL 1500 and SAE J1171 standards for external ignition protection, making it safe for installation on gasoline-powered boats. Its IP66 rating ensures protection against dust and powerful water jets, guaranteeing reliability in marine environments.
