Detailed description
Detailed description
The Furuno 8-port Ethernet HUB, model HUB-101, is designed to centralize Ethernet network connectivity on vessels equipped with Furuno NavNet 3D and TZtouch/TZtouch2 navigation systems. This unmanaged switch provides eight 100BASE-TX/10BASE-T Ethernet ports, enabling fast data distribution between multifunction displays, radar antennas, and compatible fishfinder modules. Its power supply is compatible with 12–24 Vdc shipboard networks.
Integration and Key Features
The HUB-101 includes a Power Sync RJ45 function, essential for synchronizing the power supply to connected NavNet 3D display units. This feature simplifies power-on and power-off management for the entire system. For more complex or scalable network setups, multiple HUB-101 units can be installed in series on the same LAN, increasing the number of available ports. LED indicators display power status and each network port’s state, facilitating quick diagnostics. The unit can be mounted on a desk or bulkhead but must be kept away from direct sunlight and water spray.
Positioning within the Furuno Range
Compared to other Furuno solutions, the HUB-101 is the standard for 100BASE-TX networks. For example, the HUB-102 is a 5-port marine Ethernet hub with watertight connectors and Gigabit speeds, intended for NavNet-series MFDs requiring higher throughput and greater environmental resistance. For installations demanding advanced network capabilities, such as dual ECDIS setups or complex Gigabit networks, the Furuno Intelligent Hub 3000 provides a managed switch solution with intelligent routing functions and Layer 3 compatibility. The Furuno 8-port Ethernet HUB (HUB-101) is therefore optimized for existing NavNet 3D and TZtouch/TZtouch2 architectures, offering a reliable and easy-to-deploy solution for standard 100 Mbps network requirements.
