Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin 1.2-litre pump kit (part number 010-00705-64) is a critical component for Garmin Reactor 40 autopilot systems. Designed to provide precise helm control, this high-pressure/low-volume (HPLV) hydraulic pump is optimized for single-cylinder applications with cylinder volumes ranging from 6 to 14 cubic inches. With a flow rate of 1.2 litres per minute and a maximum pressure of 1000 PSI, it is suited for small to mid-sized vessels requiring autopilot assistance for trolling at low speeds or cruising navigation.
Design and integration
Constructed with a corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy body, this pump features upgraded ORB hydraulic ports and threaded cable clamps, enhancing durability in marine environments. The kit interfaces with the vessel’s hydraulic steering system, pumping hydraulic fluid to the steering cylinders on command from the autopilot. It is critical that the boat’s steering system has a vented reservoir to prevent pump damage. For installation, hoses between the pump and check valve must not exceed 60 cm (2 feet), and the pump must be mounted in a dry, protected location within 0.5 metres of the autopilot’s ECU and within 3 metres of the steering cylinder.
Compatibility and positioning
The Garmin 1.2-litre pump kit integrates with various hydraulic systems, including Verado and UFLEX Pro setups, extending its versatility. This 1.2-litre model is specifically targeted at smaller-volume cylinders, ensuring optimal response without overloading the system or consuming unnecessary power, distinguishing it from higher-capacity versions (such as Garmin’s 2.0-litre pumps). The kit includes the pump assembly, mounting hardware, and three marine-grade compression tube fittings (ORB-5 to 3/8"). Additional hydraulic fittings, tees, and hoses must be purchased separately for a complete installation.
