Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for coastal and mid-water fishing applications, the Garmin Airmar B150M bronze through-hull transducer integrates CHIRP technology for improved target resolution. This 300W model operates across a mid-frequency range of 95-155 kHz, providing a total bandwidth of 60 kHz. It can reach a maximum depth of 183 meters (600 feet) under optimal conditions while delivering rapid water temperature data.
Tilted Element™ Technology and Performance
The B150M features a Tilted Element™ design with a 20° tilted element, specifically suited for hulls with a deadrise angle between 16° and 24°. This internal tilt ensures the sonar beam is directed straight toward the bottom, maximizing echo return without requiring an external fairing block. With a beam width of 26° to 17° depending on frequency, it provides good coverage beneath the boat and effective target separation, particularly useful for detecting fish near structures or suspended.
Materials and Installation
The B150M’s bronze housing is recommended for fiberglass or wooden hulls, ensuring durability and optimal compatibility with these materials. With a low profile, it is suitable for towed or lifted boats. Installation requires a 51 mm (2-inch) hole. It comes with a 10-meter (33-foot) cable and an 8-pin Garmin connector, facilitating integration with compatible systems. Airmar Xducer ID® technology is also included for automatic recognition by Garmin devices.
Positioning in the Airmar Range
The B150M transducer is positioned as a mid-range CHIRP solution in terms of power (300W), ideal for boats up to 8 meters (26 feet) and shallow to mid-water fishing. It serves as an alternative to higher-power models like the B75 series (600W) or 1kW transducers, which are better suited for deeper waters or larger vessels. Compared to older models like the B60 or B117, the B150M offers the advantage of wide-band CHIRP technology, significantly improving target clarity and detection.
