Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for small to medium-sized boats (up to 8 meters), the Garmin Airmar B150M through-hull transducer is a mid-band CHIRP solution for fish detection and bottom reading. This 300W transducer operates in the 95 kHz to 155 kHz frequency range, providing high resolution for depths up to 183 meters (600 feet).
Design and Integration
The B150M features a bronze housing, ideal for installation on fiberglass or wooden hulls. Its fixed 0° tilted element is specifically designed for deadrise angles from 0° to 7°, ensuring precise vertical beam orientation without requiring a fairing block. The transducer requires a 51 mm (2-inch) hole diameter for flush mounting. It includes a fast-response water temperature sensor and comes with a 10-meter (33-foot) cable with an 8-pin Garmin connector, ensuring direct compatibility with Garmin displays.
CHIRP Performance
The Airmar B150M’s CHIRP technology delivers improved target separation and image clarity, particularly for detecting fish near structures or in the water column. With a beam width ranging from 26° to 17° across its frequency range, it provides coverage suited to coastal and inland waters. Positioned as a compact and efficient alternative, it offers mid-band CHIRP performance comparable to higher-power transducers like the B75M, but optimized for smaller boats where 300W power is sufficient for target depths.
