Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for professional fishermen and demanding recreational boaters, the Airmar R111LH transducer by Garmin is a 2 kW dual-band CHIRP transducer optimized for solid fiberglass hulls. It provides depth and water temperature detection without hull drilling, thanks to oil-filled or "pocket" mounting.
Advanced CHIRP Performance
The R111LH operates on two distinct CHIRP frequency ranges: a low frequency from 38 to 75 kHz and a high frequency from 130 to 210 kHz. This extended coverage, totaling 117 kHz of bandwidth, enables improved target detection, precise bottom discrimination, and clear separation between baitfish and gamefish. With a 2 kW power output, the transducer reaches maximum depths of 1829 meters (6000 feet) in low frequency and 457 meters (1500 feet) in high frequency. While some sources cite a general maximum depth of 2438 meters (8000 feet) for 2 kW transducers, the specific performance figures are those indicated per frequency band. Its beam widths range from 19° to 10° (port-starboard) and 10° to 5° (bow-stern) in low frequency, and from 8° to 4° in high frequency, ensuring coverage suited to various depths and fishing scenarios.
Installation and Compatibility
This transducer is specifically designed for solid fiberglass hulls, excluding sandwich (foam or balsa core) hulls. Oil-filled installation is facilitated by a plastic reservoir that can be adjusted to compensate for hull deadrise angles up to 22° on the short side and 12° on the long side. This installation method is particularly advantageous for high-speed boats, multihulls, or trailable vessels, as it preserves hull integrity and reduces hydrodynamic drag. The R111LH is compatible with various propulsion systems, including inboard, I/O, outboard, and jet-drive engines. Supplied with a 15-meter (49-foot) bare-wire cable, it is ready for integration with compatible sonar modules such as the Garmin GSD 26, fully leveraging Airmar’s Xducer ID® technology.
