Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin fairing block (part number 010-13230-00) is an accessory designed specifically for the Panoptix PS70 transducer. It optimizes the installation of the through-hull transducer for maximum sonar performance, particularly in deep water and offshore navigation. This component is critical for correctly positioning the transducer, ensuring clarity and accuracy of real-time sonar views provided by the PS70, which can reach depths of up to 300 meters with RapidReturn™ technology.
Sonar performance optimization
The Panoptix PS70 transducer stands out with its 800-watt power and its ability to provide live sonar images with a fast refresh rate (minimum 10 frames per second). To fully exploit these capabilities, the fairing block is essential. It compensates for the boat’s deadrise angle, ensuring that the transducer’s beam (120° x 8° at frequencies of 190–210 kHz) is directed perpendicular to the water surface. This correction is vital for obtaining accurate LiveVü™ Down views, clear traditional sonar, and reliable RealVü™ 3D Historical representations, even in rough sea conditions thanks to the PS70’s built-in image stabilization.
Installation and compatibility
Designed for through-hull installation, this fairing block is compatible with fiberglass (with or without a core) and metal hulls. It is recommended for deadrise angles ranging from 5 to 20 degrees. Installation requires adjusting the block to the hull angle and using the included anti-rotation bolt to ensure transducer stability at high speeds. The fairing block is a key component for maintaining sonar signal integrity, preventing cavitation and interference, and enabling the PS70 to map the seafloor with the QuickDraw Contours feature up to 300 meters. The kit includes the fairing block and the necessary anti-rotation bolt for compliant installation.
