Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for offshore sailing and fishing, the Garmin GMR 1236 xHD3 open-array radar offers advanced detection of obstacles, weather, and traffic. This 12 kW radar system integrates a 6-foot (183 cm) antenna and provides detection ranges from 20 meters to 96 nautical miles. It operates on 10 to 32 Vdc and features IPX6 waterproofing.
Advanced detection technologies
The GMR 1236 xHD3 is equipped with Scan Averaging technology, a first for Garmin magnetron radars, which reduces sea clutter and interference for better target identification. The target size angular adjustment function uses pulse expansion and processing techniques to optimize object display across all range scales. True Echo Trails display the historical paths of boats, facilitating quick identification of moving targets and collision risks.
Operational features
This radar supports Dual Range operation with overlay, displaying side-by-side images on a compatible chartplotter with independent range settings for simultaneous short- and long-range monitoring. Dynamic Auto Gain adjusts gain levels for various sea conditions. A "Bird Gain" mode and "Bird Mode" preset are included to locate birds, indicators of fish schools. The MARPA target tracking allows tracking up to 30 targets with appropriate sensors for collision avoidance, and a configurable guard zone alerts the user to intrusions. The GMR 1236 xHD3 maintains a rotation speed of 24 and 48 rpm and features a 1.1° horizontal beam width for targeted detection.
