GPSMAP® 1223xsv - GPS-sounder combo 12" with worldwide chartplotter

The Garmin GPSMAP 1223xsv is a 12-inch multifunction chartplotter designed for advanced navigation and underwater detection. Featuring ClearVü and SideVü sonar technologies combined with a traditional CHIRP sounder, it provides detailed visualization of the seabed and submerged structures. This model comes preloaded with worldwide chartplotter data, ensuring basic coverage for many regions.

Network integration and camera capabilities

The GPSMAP 1223xsv integrates with the Garmin Marine Network and NMEA 2000 network, enabling seamless connection with other Garmin and third-party equipment. It supports integration of third-party network cameras, such as FLIR M and MD models, as well as Garmin GC 14 and GC 200 cameras. To connect standard Ethernet equipment, a Garmin Power over Ethernet (PoE) isolation coupler (part number 010-10580-10) is required to protect the chartplotter. This device ensures video streaming across all network displays and allows touchscreen control of cameras (zoom, pan, tilt) directly from the chartplotter.

Advanced tracking and installation features

The Garmin GPSMAP 1223xsv is compatible with advanced camera tracking functions, including heading lock (Compass Lock), vessel position lock (Vessel Lock), and AIS/MARPA target tracking (slew-to-cue), requiring the addition of GPS sensors, a compass (9-axis recommended), an AIS receiver, and a compatible radar. In terms of installation, the GPSMAP x3 series, which includes the 1223xsv, benefits from mounting adapters (part number 190-02761-07) that simplify upgrades from GPSMAP 7x2, 9x2, or 12x2 models, minimizing dashboard modifications. Unlike older series (7x1, 7400, 7600, 8000, 8200, 8500), current GPSMAP chartplotters like the 1223xsv feature integrated video encoder functionality.
