Detailed description
Detailed description
The GARMIN LUX SL180 marine lighting strip is a CRGBW (cool white, red, green, blue, warm white) full-spectrum lighting solution designed for above-water installations, both indoors and outdoors. This 500 mm model delivers adjustable white light from 2700K to 6500K, allowing precise adjustment of onboard lighting ambiance. Part of the LUX range from Lumishore, now integrated into Garmin, the SL180 is a flexible and high-performance lighting option for recreational boaters and professionals.
Design and technical performance
With 60 CRGBW LEDs per meter, the LUX SL180 strip provides uniform and powerful lighting. Its design is optimized for marine environments, featuring UV-resistant material and full encapsulation for IP68 protection against dust and temporary immersion. It is tested for salt fog resistance, ensuring durability in harsh conditions. The slim 14.5 mm profile allows discreet integration under coamings, furniture, or behind panels. The strip is dimmable as standard for precise control of light intensity.
Integration and installation
The GARMIN LUX SL180 operates on an input voltage range of 10.5 to 31 VDC via a LUX control module. It requires a dedicated Lumishore LUX Strip Light Driver, capable of supporting multiple strips for a total length of up to 10 meters. Current consumption is 0.6 A/m (at 12V) and 0.36 A/m (at 24V), with an average power consumption of 8.7 W/m. Installation is simplified with 3M adhesive strips and provided mounting clips, recommended for outdoor installations or wet areas. The strip has a minimum bending radius of 50 mm on the vertical axis. It is important to note that strips delivered in pre-cut and factory-sealed lengths, such as this 500 mm model, must not be cut to maintain IP68 waterproofing and warranty.
