Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for marine system upgrades, the Garmin GST™ 10 NMEA 2000 adapter (part number 010-11328-00) converts analog data from speed and water temperature sensors into a digital NMEA 2000® signal. This solution allows boat owners to integrate existing sensors, such as the Garmin through-hull speed/temperature sensor (Airmar ST850) 010-11413-00 or the Garmin transom-mount speed sensor 010-10279-02, into their NMEA 2000 network without requiring a full instrumentation replacement.
Integration and technical performance
The GST™ 10 adapter connects directly to compatible sensors, eliminating the need for additional wiring or cutting. It transmits water speed and surface temperature data to compatible Garmin displays, such as the GPSMAP series or the GMI™ 20 marine instrument display, via the NMEA 2000 network. The device supports an operating temperature range of -15°C to 70°C and is waterproof to IEC 60529 IPX7 standards, ensuring immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Its compact dimensions (24.7 x 17.0 x 78.6 mm) and weight of 380 g facilitate installation within 4.4 meters of the sensor.
Compatibility and Garmin positioning
While newer products often integrate NMEA 2000 connectivity directly into sensors, the GST™ 10 targets the upgrade market specifically. It stands as a cost-effective solution to extend the lifespan of existing Garmin analog sensors rather than replacing them with native NMEA 2000 models such as the Airmar DST810 through-hull speed/temperature transducer, which includes direct NMEA 2000 connectivity. With a maximum power consumption of 0.9 W and a LEN of 1, it integrates discreetly into the network without overloading the bus. Data configuration, including speed calibration and temperature source assignment, is performed via connected Garmin display units.
