Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding marine environments, the Garmin ORA TIX404 is a through-hull LED underwater light with a single color (white) that stands out for its interchangeable design. This feature allows simplified maintenance from inside the hull, avoiding the need to take the vessel out of the water for LED assembly servicing.
Performance and technical specifications
With a verified light output of 5100 lumens (11,475 raw lumens) and a color temperature of 6500K, the ORA TIX404 delivers powerful illumination. Its ultra-wide 110° beam ensures extensive underwater coverage. The unit integrates 12 white 10W LEDs powered by a HICOB array, operating on a voltage range of 10.5 to 31 VDC. Maximum power draw is 4.0 A at 12 V and 2.0 A at 24 V, equating to approximately 48 W per projector at full power.
Marine design and installation
Constructed with a marine-grade bronze body and borosilicate glass lens, the ORA TIX404 is engineered to withstand harsh marine environments, certified to IP68 for dust and water ingress protection. Its typical LED lifespan exceeds 50,000 hours, and it is backed by a 3-year warranty. Installation requires a 57 mm (2.25") or 64 mm (2.5") hole with an isolation kit, and the use of marine sealant such as 3M 4200 (recommended). Each light must be protected by an individual fuse (6A for 12VDC, 4A for 24VDC). Recommended positioning is between 100 and 300 mm below the minimum waterline, on a flat hull surface. For metal or carbon fiber hulls, an isolation kit (60-0210) is required. Operation is via a simple on/off switch, though more advanced control options are available with an EOS-LUX control center.
Positioning within the range
Compared to other models in the TIX404 series, this specific white (6500K) model offers a powerful direct lighting solution without the color-changing (RGBW) or dual-color features available on other variants in the range. It positions itself as a robust choice for those prioritizing reliability and ease of maintenance in high-intensity white lighting, similar to other through-hull lighting systems from competing brands, but with the distinct advantage of its interchangeable LED module.
