Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for navigation and fishing, the Garmin Panoptix™ PS51 through-hull transducer is a multibeam transducer offering advanced forward-looking sonar capabilities. It integrates FrontVü and LiveVü Forward technologies for real-time perception of the underwater environment. This model differs from Panoptix LiveScope transducers, which are optimized for visualizing highly precise and moving targets around the boat, by focusing on collision avoidance and obstacle detection ahead of the bow. While LiveScope excels in live fishing, the PS51 provides safety and immediate seabed awareness.
FrontVü and LiveVü Forward sonar
The Panoptix PS51 is equipped with FrontVü sonar, displaying the seabed up to 91 meters (300 feet) ahead of the boat, typically 8 to 10 times the current depth. This function is essential for avoiding groundings in unknown waters, providing near-instant feedback for rapid reactions. Additionally, the LiveVü Forward sonar allows real-time visualization of fish, bait, and even divers up to 30 meters (100 feet) ahead, whether the boat is stationary or moving. The transducer operates at a frequency of 417 kHz with a transmit power of 96W, ensuring clear detection. For image stabilization, an AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference System) sensor is integrated, guaranteeing clean data even in rough seas. Power consumption is less than 1.2A at 12V (9W).
Installation and compatibility of the Panoptix PS51
This transducer is designed for a standard 50.88 mm (2-inch) through-hull installation in stainless steel, including a fairing block. It supports hull deadrise angles up to 25 degrees. The Garmin Panoptix PS51 provides depth and temperature data, and its Ethernet connectivity (1.8 m cable with a 15 m extension provided) facilitates integration into the Garmin marine network. It is compatible with Garmin echoMAP CHIRP chartplotter/fishfinder displays (7 and 9 inches), the GPSMAP 7x2/9x2, 10x2/12x2 series, and the GPSMAP 8400/8600, 7400/7600, 7x1/8x0/10x0 series. The PS51 is rated IPX7 for water resistance and can withstand speeds up to 45 knots, with optimal FrontVü performance up to 8 knots.
