Detailed description
Detailed description
The HELUTHERM® 145 UL/CSA tinned cable from HELUKABEL, with a 2.5mm² cross-section (approx. AWG 14), is a single-conductor wiring solution designed for demanding environments. This cable is certified to UL-Std. 758 (AWM) Style 3578 and CSA-Std. C22.2 No. 210 - AWM I A/B, ensuring compliance with North American standards for industrial and marine applications.
Design and technical performance
This cable features a tinned copper conductor, finely stranded to DIN VDE 0295 Class 5 / IEC 60228 Class 5, offering enhanced corrosion resistance—a critical advantage in marine environments. The conductor insulation is made of cross-linked polyolefin, providing an extended operating temperature range: from -35°C to +120°C when flexibly installed and from -55°C to +145°C when fixed. For UL (AWM) applications, these values are -35°C to +105°C (flexible) and -55°C to +105°C (fixed). It supports a UL (AWM) rated voltage of 600 V and a test voltage of 3000 V.
Durability and certifications
The HELUTHERM® 145 2.5mm² cable stands out for its resistance to UV, ozone, weathering, abrasion, and cuts. It is also non-corrosive when burned (per DIN VDE 0482-754-2 / DIN EN 60754-2 / IEC 60754-2) and halogen-free (per DIN VDE 0482-754-1 / DIN EN 60754-1 / IEC 60754-1), and flame-retardant (CSA FT1). Its compliance with smoke density tests (DIN VDE 0482-1034-1+2 / DIN EN 61034-1+2 / IEC 61034-1+2) and oil resistance (DIN VDE 0473-811-404 / DIN EN 60811-404 / IEC 60811-404, IRM 902 4h at +70°C) makes it suitable for harsh environments. It is DNV GL certified for cross-sections from 0.5 to 50 mm², underscoring its suitability for marine applications. The cable is red (RAL 3000) and has a total weight of approximately 30 kg/km (based on Odoo data of 0.03 kg/m). Precise dimensions (outer diameter, copper weight) for the 2.5mm² cross-section are not specified in the provided documentation.
Specific applications
This cable is suitable for internal wiring of lighting equipment, heating systems, electric machines, switching systems, and distributors in industrial installations, as well as for factory and machinery construction. It can be installed in conduits, under or on plaster, and in closed installation conduits. It is not designed for direct installation in cable trays or open raceways.
