Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding marine environments, the JL Audio M7-12IB-C-GwGw-4 marine subwoofer with a 12-inch (300 mm) driver delivers deep bass for onboard audio systems. It is optimized for infinite-baffle mounting, requiring a rear air volume of at least 84.95 litres (3 ft³). This model is also compatible with large sealed or ported enclosures.
Audio performance and power
The subwoofer features a 600-watt RMS power handling and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. Its high-temperature 4-inch (10.16 cm) voice coil and 18.5 mm maximum linear excursion (Xmax) contribute to high efficiency and low distortion. Sensitivity is 86.7 dB SPL (1 W / 1 m), and its free-air resonance frequency (Fs) is 35.34 Hz. It is recommended to pair it with an amplifier delivering between 200 and 600 watts. The motor system is optimized by JL Audio’s DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis) technology for precise and articulate bass.
Marine-grade design and durability
The JL Audio M7-12IB-C-GwGw-4 features an injection-molded polypropylene cone (mica-loaded) and a synthetic rubber surround formulated with UV inhibitors. The corrosion- and UV-resistant polymer basket encapsulates the motor system, while the marine-grade synthetic spider with progressive profiles resists high humidity. The connection terminals are gold-plated marine-grade brass. This subwoofer undergoes UV testing (to simulate sun exposure) and salt-fog chamber testing (to simulate saltwater exposure) to ensure reliability and longevity in marine conditions. Net weight is 11.5 kg (25.35 lbs).
Installation and additional features
The cutout diameter for installation is 306 mm (12.0625 inches), and the mounting depth is 202 mm (7.94 inches). An optional RGB LED lighting system is available, requiring a separate 12 V wiring harness for each speaker. Individual wires allow for up to seven fixed LED colors; an RGB lighting controller (sold separately) is required for adjustable settings. A fast inline fuse must be installed on the positive LED wire to protect components. Marine-grade stainless steel mounting hardware is included.
