The JL Audio XDM700/5 marine amplifier is a 5-channel Class D amplification solution designed for demanding marine environments. This unit delivers audiophile-grade sound in a compact form factor, capable of powering a full audio system comprising four satellite speakers and a subwoofer.
Audio performance and power
Featuring JL Audio’s high-speed switching NexD™ amplification technology, the JL Audio XDM700/5 offers high efficiency and low distortion. At 14.4 V, it delivers 75 W RMS x 4 channels at 4 Ω, 100 W RMS x 4 channels at 2 Ω, and 200 W RMS x 2 channels in bridged mode at 4 Ω for the main channels. The subwoofer channel outputs 180 W RMS at 4 Ω and 300 W RMS at 2 Ω. At 12.5 V, the power outputs are 60 W RMS x 4 at 4 Ω, 90 W RMS x 4 at 2 Ω, and 180 W RMS x 2 in bridged mode at 4 Ω for the main channels, with the subwoofer channel maintaining 180 W RMS at 4 Ω and 300 W RMS at 2 Ω. The main channels’ frequency response ranges from 12 Hz to 22 kHz (+0, -1 dB), while the subwoofer channel’s response is 10 Hz to 1 kHz (+0, -1 dB). The signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 104 dB for the main channels, and the total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) is less than 1% at 2 Ω per channel. The amplifier accepts an RCA input voltage of 200 mV to 4 V RMS.
Marine-grade design and advanced features
The JL Audio XDM700/5 is built specifically for marine environments, incorporating marine-grade materials, an elegant black thermo-lacquered finish, a removable and watertight top cover for controls, and stainless-steel fasteners. Its advanced filtering system enables precise configuration: channels 1 and 2 feature a 12 dB/octave high-pass filter (50 Hz - 5 kHz, with a x10 multiplier for 500-5000 Hz); channels 3 and 4 include a 12 dB/octave high-pass or band-pass filter (50-500 Hz); and the subwoofer channel offers a variable-slope low-pass filter (selectable 12 dB/octave or 24 dB/octave) with a 50-500 Hz cutoff frequency. These filters can be configured for a 3-way crossover. A dual-mode input filter ensures noise-free performance in marine and automotive environments. The unit also features automatic turn-on via signal detection or DC offset, balanced differential inputs to eliminate electrical noise, and advanced thermal rollback protection to prevent shutdowns due to overheating. An optional level remote control (HD-RLC or MHD-RLC) can be added for adjustments from the helm.
