The Lowrance Eagle 4x Fishfinder is a compact, dedicated fishfinder designed to provide a simple and effective fish-detection solution for anglers navigating kayaks, dinghies, and small boats. Positioned as an entry-level technical option within the Lowrance ecosystem, it stands out for its ease of use and robustness, contrasting with more complex models such as the Hook Reveal or Elite FS series, which include CHIRP, DownScan, or SideScan features and GPS/chartplotter capabilities. The Eagle 4x focuses on the essentials: reliable and direct detection.
Display and User Interface
The unit features a 4.3-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 272 x 480 pixels. This IPS technology ensures viewing angles of 80° in all directions (up/down/left/right) and improved clarity, even in direct sunlight or with polarized sunglasses—a significant advantage for outdoor use. Its portrait orientation is particularly well-suited to the confined spaces of small boats. The user interface is simplified and includes an autotuning sonar function that automatically adjusts settings for optimal performance, making the fishfinder accessible to novice users.
Sonar Performance
The Eagle 4x Fishfinder uses a traditional sonar (Broadband Wide) operating at a single frequency of 200 kHz. It comes with a Bullet Skimmer transducer designed for transom mounting and offering a wide 85° cone, doubling the coverage of many standalone fishfinders. This setup allows for a maximum depth of 152 meters (500 feet). It also includes the True Scroll Sonar feature for continuous right-to-left scrolling of the display. It is important to note that this model does not support CHIRP, DownScan Imaging, or SideScan Imaging functions, targeting anglers seeking straightforward detection technology without the complexities of advanced scanning.

Connectivity is limited to a transducer port compatible with the Bullet Skimmer. The unit has an IPX7 waterproof rating, protecting it against temporary immersion, and can operate in a temperature range of -15°C to 55°C, with a storage range of -20°C to 60°C. A water temperature sensor is also integrated, and the "twist-lock" connector system ensures easy and reliable installation and removal.
