Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt MVG gel 12V/55Ah battery is a high-performance energy storage solution specifically designed for marine auxiliary battery banks. Thanks to its advanced technology where the electrolyte is fully absorbed in gel form, this battery is completely maintenance-free and releases no gas during normal use. Unlike traditional lead-acid batteries or some AGM batteries that require strict ventilation, the MVG range offers total flexibility and can be installed in any confined space aboard.
Cyclic performance and fast charging
Ideal for medium to large 12V or 24V systems, this unit offers a nominal capacity of 55Ah (C20). It stands out for its ability to withstand intensive cyclic use with a high number of charge and discharge cycles. Additionally, it accepts a maximum charging current of 27.5A (50% of its nominal capacity), enabling exceptionally fast recharging compared to market standards. Its extremely low self-discharge rate also ensures excellent performance during layup periods.
Technical specifications and integration
Weighing 19 kg with compact dimensions of 261 x 136 x 230 mm, it is equipped with standard A-type terminals. Although optimized for auxiliary use, it delivers a cold cranking amperage (CCA) of 380A per SAE standard (230A DIN). To ensure an extremely long service life, it must be paired with a charger featuring an IUoUo characteristic (absorption voltage at 14.25V and float at 13.80V at 25°C) with recommended temperature compensation. Installation is secure: it can be mounted vertically or horizontally (excluding the short side).
