Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk NG converter (R52131) is designed to integrate older navigation equipment based on the SeaTalk(1) protocol into a modern SeaTalkng network. This solution enables extended connectivity and gradual upgrading of onboard electronic systems.
SeaTalkng network architecture
SeaTalkng is a proprietary Raymarine interconnect bus, structured around a main "backbone" to which Raymarine products are connected via "spur" cables. The backbone requires the installation of two terminators, one at each end, to ensure correct data transmission. Adapters are available to connect SeaTalk(1) products as well as NMEA 2000 equipment via specific adapter cables.
Connectivity and installation
The SeaTalkng system uses small-diameter connectors to facilitate installation. Cables and connectors are color-coded: the backbone is blue, spurs are white, and the power cable is marked with a red stripe. A range of cable lengths is available to avoid cutting and splicing. Connection pieces (three-way, five-way, and inline) are available to adapt network deployment. The R52131 converter acts as a bridge, enabling SeaTalk(1) instruments to communicate within this modern network.
