The SBG Ellipse D kit is a compact and robust GNSS inertial navigation system (INS) designed to provide reliable heading, position, and heave data, even in the most demanding marine environments. This kit includes the SBG Ellipse-D Marine INS, an SBG Ellipse D triple-band GNSS antenna, and an SMA to TNC LMR240 adapter cable, forming a complete solution for applications requiring optimal precision and stability.
Precision and Robustness in Navigation
The core of the kit, the Ellipse-D, stands out with its dual-antenna multi-band (L1/L2) GNSS receiver and advanced sensor fusion algorithm. It supports GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BeiDou, QZSS, and SBAS constellations, offering RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) capability with horizontal accuracy of 0.01 m + 1 ppm and vertical accuracy of 0.02 m + 1 ppm. This performance surpasses single-point systems (1.2 m horizontal, 1.5 m vertical) and ensures reliable navigation even during GNSS outages thanks to the integration of inertial data with external sensors such as DVL or odometers.
Stable Heading and Orientation
Unlike the Ellipse-N, which lacks dual-antenna capability, the Ellipse-D provides precise and stable heading (0.2° in RTK, 0.1° in PPK) even in static or challenging conditions, thanks to its dual-antenna configuration. Roll and pitch accuracies are 0.05° in RTK and 0.03° in PPK. The system integrates 3 capacitive MEMS accelerometers, 3 high-performance MEMS gyroscopes, and a 3-axis magnetometer, all calibrated for optimal performance across a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The sensor’s housing measures 46 x 45 x 32 mm and weighs 65 g, with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
