Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding marine energy systems, the Victron Energy 12.8V/150Ah NG battery is a next-generation Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO₄ or LFP) storage solution. It represents an evolution over the Victron Lithium Smart series, incorporating significant improvements in functionality and durability. With a nominal voltage of 12.8 V and a capacity of 150 Ah (1920 Wh) at 25 °C, this battery is suitable for a wide range of applications requiring reliable and high-performance power.
Advanced Integration and Monitoring
This battery features an integrated shunt that transmits essential data such as voltage, current, and temperature to the external Battery Management System (BMS). This information is critical for accurate state-of-charge calculation and generation of specific alerts. Control and monitoring are performed via the VictronConnect app, a Victron GX device, or the VRM portal, enabling automatic and real-time management of all battery parameters, including individual cell voltages and temperatures. The Lynx Smart BMS NG (500A or 1000A) is mandatory and must be purchased separately for battery operation.
Scalability and Performance
Victron Energy’s Lithium NG batteries offer high installation flexibility. They can be configured in series, parallel, or a combination of both to create battery banks suitable for 12V, 24V, or 48V systems. A single bank can accommodate up to 50 batteries for 12V or 24V systems (up to 192 kWh for 12V, 384 kWh for 24V) and up to 25 batteries for 48V systems (up to 128 kWh). The LiFePO₄ chemistry gives this battery robustness, a wide operating temperature range (discharge from -20 °C to +50 °C, charge from +5 °C to +50 °C), and excellent cycle performance, with 2500 cycles at 80 % depth of discharge (DoD). Its round-trip efficiency of 92 % is higher than lead-acid batteries (approximately 80 %), optimizing system energy efficiency.
Design and Durability
With an IP65 protection rating, the Victron Energy 12.8V/150Ah NG battery is effectively sealed against dust and resistant to low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for marine environments. The maximum self-discharge rate is 2 % per month, contributing to overall longevity and reliability. Installation is simplified with the included mounts, ensuring optimal securing. Power connections are made via M8 threaded inserts. Unlike lead-acid batteries, LFP batteries do not require a full charge to preserve their lifespan and can even benefit from partial charging.
