Designed for demanding marine applications, the Victron Energy Smart IP43 Charger 12/50 (1+1) 120/240V provides an intelligent charging solution for two battery banks. This model features a main 50-amp output dedicated to the service bank and a secondary output, limited to approximately 4 amps with a slightly lower voltage, specifically designed for maintaining a starting battery.
Adaptive charging technology and advanced connectivity
The Smart IP43 Charger integrates a 6-step adaptive charging algorithm: bulk, absorption, recondition, float, storage, and refresh. This system automatically manages the charging process based on battery usage, optimizing absorption time to prevent overcharging during shallow discharges or ensuring a full charge after deep discharges. The BatterySafe mode prevents excessive gassing by limiting voltage increase, while the Storage mode reduces float voltage to 13.2 V to minimize gassing and corrosion when the battery is unused for 24 hours, with weekly equalization. This charger is compatible with Li-ion batteries (LiFePO₄), offering a programmable charging algorithm via Bluetooth or VE.Direct, with specific absorption and storage steps for this technology.
System integration and flexibility
Integrated Bluetooth Smart connectivity enables wireless configuration, monitoring, control, updates, and synchronization via the VictronConnect app. The charging algorithm is fully programmable via Bluetooth or the VE.Direct interface. The latter allows wired connection to a GX device such as the Cerbo GX, or to a PC, also providing remote Instant Readout via VRM. The charger supports external voltage and temperature sensing via Bluetooth through the VE.Smart Networking with devices like the Smart Battery Sense, SmartShunt, or BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor, improving charging accuracy. A programmable relay is also available to trigger alarms or other events. With a maximum efficiency of 94% and a power factor of 1, this charger ensures optimized energy conversion.
