Victron Energy’s SmartShunt 300A is a comprehensive battery monitor designed for installations requiring discreet monitoring without a dedicated display. It turns your smartphone or tablet into a dashboard via the VictronConnect app, connected via Bluetooth.
Connectivity and Integration
This battery monitor features Bluetooth connectivity and a VE.Direct port, allowing easy reading of all monitored battery parameters. These include state of charge, remaining time, and historical data. For deeper integration, the SmartShunt can be connected to a Victron Energy GX device via a VE.Direct cable, enabling centralized management of your energy system.
Features and Comparison
The SmartShunt 300A serves as an alternative to the BMV-712 battery monitor for systems where wiring simplicity and space reduction are priorities. Unlike the BMV-712, it lacks programmable visual and audible alarms or a programmable relay. An auxiliary connection is available to monitor a second battery (input voltage 6.5–70 VDC), a battery bank midpoint, or to connect an optional temperature sensor (measurement range -20 to +50°C).
Accuracy and Robustness
Designed to operate on a supply voltage range of 6.5 to 70 VDC with current consumption under 1 mA, the SmartShunt 300A handles battery capacities from 1 to 9999 Ah. It provides precise measurements with a resolution of ±0.01A for current (accuracy ±0.4%) and ±0.01V for voltage (accuracy ±0.3%). State of charge is measured with an accuracy of ±0.1%. Its compact dimensions of 44 x 120 x 44 mm and M8 connection bolts simplify installation. The protection rating is IP21, indicating resistance to vertical water splashes. Trend data (battery voltage, current, SoC, auxiliary input) is stored for 46 days.
