Grand Largue Composites
Epoxy infusion workshop in Caen, from the Class40 Legallais to Multiplast decks
Foundation
Grand Largue Composites was established in 2007 on the Calix basin in Caen (Mondeville, Calvados) by Xavier Gosselin and Jean-François Lilti, following the Avocet 50 catamaran project. Xavier Gosselin now runs a facility with a permanent staff of about half a dozen, supplemented by specialists brought in for specific projects.
Technical specialty
The workshop specializes in epoxy infusion for small to medium-sized parts, where most of the marine market still relies on polyester. It has out-of-autoclave (OOA) capabilities and self-heating molds up to 200 °C, opening doors to industrial and aeronautical markets.
The marine sector accounts for about 65% of activity, with the remainder split between aeronautics and industry.
Caen ecosystem
The yard collaborates closely with neighboring facilities on the Caen basin — V1D2, Shoreteam Yard, Normandy Yacht Service — on optimizations and refits of boats produced in the workshop.
