On the Altervia, standard Oyster 495, Skysat handled adaptations and commissioning, in addition to the yard’s standard work.

  • Onboard connectivity:Peplink 4G/WiFi router with tablet-based control app.
  • Personal safety:Integration and programming of Ocean Signal beacons (EPIRB, PLB, personal AIS) and MOB Exposure Olas wristbands.
  • Additional power:Removable solar panel, power consumption analysis at anchor.
  • Electric rigging:Power supply and Selden spinnaker furler controls.
  • Instrumentation:Commissioning, configuration, and full B&G training (speed/depth log, VHF, AIS, MMSI, alarms).
  • Air conditioning:Dometic, tuning and setup.
  • Diagnostics and after-sales service:Battery electrical systems (switch panels, compass lighting, bilge pump, DC outlets).

The award-winning 50-foot bluewater Oyster

TheOyster 495 is the smallest model in the Oyster Yachts range. It is also the first model designed since the yard was acquired by Richard Hadida in 2018. The first example afloat in 2022 was namedEuropean Yacht of the Year 2023 in the Luxury Cruiser category.

Architecture

Hull designed byHumphreys Yacht Design (Rob and Tom Humphreys) in collaboration with Oyster’s in-house studio. Evolved platform based on Humphreys’ G6 hull form: vertical bow, wide beam carried far aft, twin rudders. Designed for offshore cruising with a small crew (couple or family).

Construction

Built in Wroxham (Norfolk, UK), Oyster’s historic site revived in 2018 after the yard was restarted under Hadida.

Example owned by Mathieu Janssens, delivered in 2022, hull finish in turquoise (Oyster option). Programme: offshore cruising.
