Class 40 #202, second scow design Raison of the Crédit Mutuel program
40-foot (12.15 m) monohull, David Raison design, built byGepeto Composite in Lorient La Base. Launched onApril 26, 2024. Direct successor to Class 40 #158 (Raison 2019, first scow of the class), sharing the same Crédit Mutuel program.
Design: stretched scow hull, longitudinal bulkheads
Compared to #158, the hull has been stretched along the centerline with more forward beam to plane earlier and reduce bow diving while reaching.
Structural innovation: threelongitudinal bulkheads (« keelsons ») running from bow to stern, from hull to deck, replacing part of traditional transverse bulkheads. The boat is divided into three longitudinal sections; improved slamming impact resistance with comparable structural weight.
Boat achievements
Winner of the2nd Globe 40 (2025–2026), a double-handed Class 40 round-the-world regatta with stopovers, raced over 6 legs plus a prologue, finishing in Lorient on April 15, 2026. First scow to complete a round-the-world race.
Sailed by Ian Lipinski, with Antoine Carpentier as main crew, later joined by Amélie Grassi and Alan Roberts for several legs:
