EMU-1-BAS - analog engine gateway to NMEA 2000

The Actisense EMU-1-BAS is a specialized gateway for analog engine installations. It measures signals from existing gauges or sensors and then publishes the corresponding data on the NMEA 2000 network so that a compatible display, chartplotter, or instrument like a GMI can use it.

Analog to NMEA 2000 conversion

Actisense presents the EMU-1 as an analog-to-NMEA 2000 gateway for engine data. The module can handle parameters such as temperature, pressure, engine RPM, and fluid levels. It features six gauge/parameter inputs, four alarm inputs, two auxiliary inputs, and two tachometer inputs.

Mandatory configuration

The EMU-1 is not a fully plug-and-play device. Actisense states that each EMU-1 must be configured for the installation, and an Actisense PC-to-NMEA 2000 gateway (NGX-1 or NGT-1) is required to use the Actisense Toolkit, update the firmware, or diagnose data with NMEA Reader.

Solution B with existing display

In an architecture where an NMEA 2000 display is already present, for example a Garmin GMI from the catalog, the EMU-1 is a relevant alternative to an integrated engine display. However, you must validate sensor compatibility, common engine grounds, and the number of required inputs before purchase.
