Detailed description
Detailed description
The AMEC B620WS AIS Class B transponder is a communication and safety solution designed for recreational boats and small fishing vessels. This device combines a CSTDMA AIS transponder with Wi-Fi connectivity and an integrated VHF antenna splitter, providing enhanced visibility and simplified integration aboard.
AIS Performance and Marine Visibility
Operating under the CSTDMA (Carrier-Sense Time Division Multiple Access) access scheme, the B620WS transponder transmits your vessel’s static and dynamic data with a transmit power of 2 watts (+33 dBm). It operates within the AIS frequency range. Dynamic data is broadcast every 30 seconds when speed exceeds 2 knots, and every 3 minutes at speeds below 2 knots or when at anchor, improving situational awareness at sea.
Integrated and Versatile Connectivity
The B620WS integrates a Wi-Fi module, allowing AIS data to be shared with smartphones, tablets, or laptops over a frequency range of 2.412 MHz to 2.472 MHz (transmit power ≤ 20 dBm (EIRP)). A VHF antenna splitter is also included, simplifying installation by sharing a single VHF antenna for AIS and radio. For complete integration with navigation systems, the transponder is equipped with NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000, and USB interfaces. It supports a wide range of NMEA 2000 PGNs for transmission and reception, as well as NMEA 0183 sentences such as GGA, GSA, GSV, GLL, RMC, VDO, VDM, DTM, GBS, HDT, and ROT.
Accurate and Robust GNSS Receiver
Featuring an integrated GNSS receiver, the B620WS is compatible with GNSS systems. The device is built to withstand demanding marine environments, with dimensions of 151.22 x 128.57 x 49.87 mm and a weight of 400 g. It is tested for robustness against shocks, vibrations, extreme temperatures (-25 °C to +55 °C), and salt fog.
Compliance and Safety
The AMEC B620WS AIS transponder complies with rigorous international standards, including IEC 62287-1 for AIS performance, IEC 61108-1 Ed. 2.0 for GNSS, and IEC 60945 Ed. 4.0 for environmental conditions.
