Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G H5000 CPU Performance processor (reference 000-11547-001) is the top-tier central processing unit of the H5000 range, specifically developed for large racing sailboats and superyachts. It centralizes, processes, and distributes navigation data to displays and peripheral devices on the network. Its hardware architecture operates on a nominal 12VDC power supply (5A) and features IPX5 waterproof protection. The housing weighs 0.7 kg and measures 210 x 194 x 60 mm.
Positioning within the H5000 range
The H5000 Performance CPU integrates all cruising features of the Hydra version and the regatta calculations of the Hercules version, adding custom processing capabilities for complex systems. Unlike lower-tier processors, it natively manages dual wind sensors, dual rudders with toe-in angle calculation, and multi-keel configurations. Its dedicated processor is 50 times faster than the previous-generation B&G H3000, ensuring latency-free data distribution to Zeus multifunction displays, mast-foot HV displays, or expansion modules.
Advanced calculations and wind correction
The unit utilizes the B&G Performance wind filter and supports 3D Motion wind correction via the tri-axial sensor, which cancels out measurement errors caused by pitch, roll, and yaw. The system calculates true ground wind speed and direction, rate of turn, and provides enriched performance polars with true wind angle and speed correction. It includes a dedicated Man Overboard (MOB) function with drift calculation and allows configuration of up to 16 user-defined functions.
Connectivity and network configuration
The H5000 Performance CPU features a comprehensive communication interface: one Ethernet port, NMEA 2000 CAN network compatibility, and two bidirectional NMEA 0183 ports. Physical inputs include four 0-5V analog ports, a 0-5V TTL surface speed input, a dedicated B&G wind sensor interface, an MOB input, and an alarm output. An exclusive USB port enables software updates and configuration backups. Configuration and calibration are performed via an integrated web server, accessible from a PC, tablet, or smartphone through a router connected to the Ethernet port, eliminating the need to navigate through display menus. The system also supports GoFree and H-Link protocols for third-party application integration.
