Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G HALO20 dome radar is a compact 20-inch solution incorporating pulse compression technology. Designed for sailboats and smaller vessels, it uses 10W of transmit power to provide clear and accurate detection up to a maximum range of 24 nautical miles. Its InstantOn™ technology ensures immediate availability from low-power standby mode, eliminating the warm-up time of traditional magnetron radars.
Performance and detection modes
The HALO20 offers short-range detection from 50 meters, essential for navigation in congested areas. The rotation speed is fixed at 24 RPM. The beam has a width of 4.9° horizontally and 25° vertically. Several operating modes are available to optimize the display according to conditions: Port, Offshore, and Weather. MARPA target tracking allows simultaneous monitoring of up to 10 selected collision threats. Customizable guard zones can also be configured to trigger alarms.
Technical specifications and product range positioning
With a diameter of 510 mm and a height of 223 mm, the radome weighs 5.9 kg. It is IPX6 waterproof certified and operates on a 10.5 to 31.2V DC power supply, making it compatible with both 12V and 24V systems. Power consumption is 18W in typical operation and 20W at maximum. The HALO20 is the entry-level model in the B&G dome radar range. Unlike the higher-end HALO20+ model, it does not feature VelocityTrack™ Doppler technology, Dual Range operation, or accelerated rotation speed of 60 RPM.
