Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G WS310 interface is a protocol converter designed to integrate data from a wired WS310 wind sensor into an NMEA 2000 network. This module is essential for connecting the WS310 wind vane anemometer, which communicates in NMEA 0183, to modern B&G navigation systems, including multifunction displays and autopilots.
Connectivity and protocol conversion
The interface connects directly to the NMEA 2000 network via a Micro-C port, representing a load of 1 LEN (Load Equivalency Number). It is programmed to specifically interpret the NMEA 0183 MWV and R sentences emitted by the wind sensor, ensuring accurate and reliable conversion of wind speed and angle data to the NMEA 2000 protocol.
Physical and electrical characteristics
The module requires a 12V DC power supply and operates within a voltage range of 9 to 16V DC. Designed for marine environments, the interface is IPX7 waterproof certified. Its operating temperature range is -15°C to +55°C, and its storage temperature range is -20°C to +60°C. Its compact dimensions of 90 x 20 x 10 mm and a weight of 0.2 kg facilitate installation. The device complies with IEC/EN 60945 standards and requires a safety distance of 300 mm from the magnetic compass.
