Detailed description
Detailed description
The **HALO24 Radar** from **B&G** is a 24-inch pulse compression radome designed to deliver unparalleled target detection at short, medium, and long ranges. Incorporating Doppler VelocityTrack™ technology, simultaneous dual-range operation, and a rotation speed of up to 60 RPM at short range, this compact and lightweight radar enhances situational awareness and collision avoidance. It represents a significant advancement over traditional magnetron radars, offering instant startup and low power consumption.
Doppler VelocityTrack™ technology and pulse compression
Doppler VelocityTrack™ technology provides instant visual feedback on the movement of radar targets. A simple color-coding system identifies potential hazards, highlighting approaching targets while reducing the visibility of receding ones. The **HALO24 Radar** automatically processes each visible target, eliminating the need for manual selection. Pulse compression technology ensures optimal detection at all scales, while beam sharpening provides improved separation between small or distant targets.
Operational performance
With a rotation speed of 60 revolutions per minute for ranges up to 1.5 nautical miles, the **HALO24 Radar** provides near real-time visibility, essential for collision avoidance with fast-moving targets. The dual-range function allows simultaneous monitoring of two distinct range scales from a single radome, for example, to keep an eye on a distant weather cell while monitoring nearby fishing traps. MARPA target tracking allows monitoring of up to 10 selected targets (or 20 in dual-range mode). Preset modes (Harbour, Offshore, Weather, Birds) adjust settings to ensure optimal visibility in all conditions.
Technical specifications of the HALO24 Radar
The **HALO24 Radar** offers a maximum range of 48 nautical miles. Its peak power is 25 W, powered by a 12/24 V DC system. Power consumption is 20 W in typical mode, 29 W at maximum, and 3.9 W in standby. The horizontal beamwidth is 3.9° nominal (2° with high target separation) and 22° for the vertical beam. The radome measures 610 mm in diameter and 225 mm in height, with a weight of 6.75 kg without cables. The unit is IPX6 rated and operates in a temperature range of -25°C to +55°C. Connectivity to the B&G multifunction display network is via Ethernet.
