Detailed description
The Smart Battery Hub Twin Engine by BEP is an advanced energy management solution specifically designed for twin-engine vessels. This hub centralizes the switching of starter and service batteries using motorized switches controllable remotely. By installing this module close to the battery banks, it significantly reduces the length and cross-section of power cables required to the starters, providing weight savings, reduced voltage drops, and substantial copper savings.
Electrical performance and robustness
Built for the most demanding marine environments, this motorized switching hub supports a maximum voltage of 32V DC. It can deliver a continuous current of 275 A, an intermittent current of 455 A, and withstands up to 1250 A during critical engine start phases. Power consumption is tightly controlled, with only 15 mA drawn when the system is in the off position. Power connections are made securely on 10 mm (3/8") tinned copper studs, recommended for cables up to 50 mm² (or 70 mm² with strain relief). The housing is certified ignition-protected, ensuring total safety even in confined engine compartments.
Network integration and scalability
Unlike traditional manual battery clusters, the Smart Battery Hub Twin Engine fits into a connected boat logic. It works in tandem with remote key control panels and integrates seamlessly with advanced digital ecosystems like CZone. It is part of BEP’s complete range of remote switching clusters, offering the same capabilities and mounting options as standard switches, while strategically positioning itself between the Single Engine and Triple Engine models. Installation is flexible, allowing surface or flush mounting depending on the vessel’s technical configuration.
