Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding marine environments, the BLUE SEA HD-Series Heavy Duty On-Off battery switch (PN 3000) provides robust power management. This single-circuit battery switch is suitable for high-current applications, such as large diesel engines. It allows disconnecting a single battery or a battery bank for safety or maintenance purposes.
High Current Capabilities and Robust Construction
The HD-Series 3000-BSS battery switch stands out with its high current ratings: a 1,750 A cranking current for 30 seconds, a 900 A intermittent current for 5 minutes, and a continuous current of 500 A. It supports a maximum voltage of 32 V DC. Its M12-1.75 (1/2") tinned copper terminals ensure maximum conductivity and excellent corrosion resistance. The BLUE SEA one-piece terminal stud design guarantees stable and durable connections, preventing loosening over time. These 22.22 mm (7/8") long terminals can accommodate multiple cable lugs and accept battery cables up to 4/0 AWG (120 mm²).
Compliance and Flexible Installation
This switch is certified for ignition protection per UL 1500 and SAE J1171, making it safe for gasoline-powered boats. It is also UL 1107 listed and meets ABYC requirements for battery switches. Its IP66 rating ensures resistance to dust and powerful water jets. The housing design allows surface or rear-panel mounting, offering installation flexibility. Unlike BLUE SEA’s m-Series (300 A continuous, 48 V DC) and e-Series (350 A continuous, 48 V DC), the HD-Series is specifically sized for the higher current demands of installations with large diesel engines, though its maximum voltage is limited to 32 V DC.
