Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding marine electrical architectures, the BLUE SEA ML 24V DTM/ATM solenoid (part number 7719100B-BSS) is a latching power switch (bi-stable) intended for high-current applications. Its key feature is its magnetic latching (ML) technology, which allows it to maintain its state (ON or OFF) without significant continuous current draw, unlike traditional relays that require constant coil power. This characteristic reduces battery drain, a benefit for onboard systems where autonomy is critical.
Performance and technical specifications
The BLUE SEA ML 24V DTM/ATM solenoid handles a nominal 24V DC circuit, with a maximum voltage of 32V DC. It features a continuous current capacity of 500A and offers a hot-switching capacity of 150A at 24V DC for 10,000 cycles, with a mechanical endurance of 100,000 cycles. Its robust design includes silver alloy contacts for increased reliability when switching under load. Current draw is minimal: less than 13mA in stable state (ON or OFF) at 25°C and less than 4A during state change (over 20 ms), making it an energy-efficient solution for remote circuit control. The power terminals are 3/8"-16 (M10) tinned copper studs, ensuring maximum conductivity and corrosion resistance, with a maximum tightening torque of 15.8 N•m (140 in-lb). This model is IP66 certified, providing protection against dust and powerful water jets, and meets ISO 8846 and SAE J1171 standards for external ignition protection.
Integration and positioning
The control circuit connects via a Deutsch DTM Series DTM 06-6S connector, facilitating integration into modern wiring systems. Cutouts are provided for circuit identification via labeling. Unlike BLUE SEA ML-RBS remote battery switches from series 7713 or 7717, which include a manual backup control, the 7719100B-BSS model is a pure solenoid without manual control. It is therefore ideal for applications where control is exclusively remote and integrated into a centralized control panel, or for specific power management functions without direct intervention on the solenoid itself. It also features an LED output for remote indication of the switch state, essential for system diagnostics and monitoring.
