Detailed description
Designed for marine navigation, the FURUNO GPS GP39 is a GPS navigator featuring a 4.2-inch color LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels and a brightness of 700 cd/m². This unit integrates a 12-channel parallel GPS receiver capable of tracking 12 satellites simultaneously and supports SBAS (WAAS, EGNOS, MSAS) for improved positioning accuracy.
Navigation accuracy and performance
The GP39 delivers GPS positioning accuracy of 10 meters (95% of the time, HDOP≤4), WAAS accuracy of 3 meters (95% of the time, HDOP≤4), and MSAS accuracy of 7 meters (95% of the time, HDOP≤4). It operates on an L1 frequency (1575.42 MHz ±1.023 MHz) and updates position data every second. Cold start acquisition time is approximately 90 seconds, warm start 30 seconds, and hot start approximately 1 second.
Memory capacity and display modes
With memory capacity for 3,000 track points, 10,000 waypoints (with comments), and 100 routes (each with up to 30 waypoints), the FURUNO GPS GP39 allows storage of significant navigation data. It offers multiple display modes including chartplotter, 3D track (Highway), route tracking, navigation data, satellite status, and customizable pages (Digital, Speedometer, COG). Configurable alarms include arrival, anchoring, cross-track error (XTE), speed, WAAS, time, and distance. The MOB (Man Overboard) function enables quick position marking.
Connectivity and robustness
The GP39 features an NMEA0183 port (V1.5/2.0/3.0) and a USB 2.0 port for integration with other marine equipment and data transfer. It can output NMEA sentences such as AAM, APB, BOD, BWC, BWR, DTM, GGA, GLL, GSA, GSV, RMB, RMC, VTG, XTE, ZDA and receive RTE, TLL. The display unit is IP55-certified for water resistance, and the GPA-017 antenna unit is IP56-rated, ensuring resistance to water spray and 93% relative humidity at +40°C. Operating temperature range is -15°C to +55°C for the display and -25°C to +70°C for the antenna. The unit operates on 12-24 VDC. The display unit weighs 0.39 kg with bracket and 0.36 kg flush-mounted. The GPA-017 antenna weighs 0.6 kg and measures approximately 90 mm in diameter by 100 mm in height.
