Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin NMEA 2000 backbone/tap cable (part number 010-11076-02), 10 metres long, is a critical component for extending and structuring NMEA 2000 networks aboard vessels. Compliant with the NMEA 2000 standard, it is designed to interconnect marine sensors and displays, succeeding the NMEA 0183 standard. It enables "plug-and-play" communication between various devices. Garmin uses NMEA 2000 micro-connectors on its devices, sensors, and T-connectors, ensuring broad compatibility.
Integration and network architecture
This cable is fitted with NMEA 2000 micro-connectors, ensuring compatibility with the Garmin ecosystem and other certified NMEA 2000 devices. It can be used as a backbone cable to extend the network’s main communication path. Note that cables longer than 6 metres, such as this 10-metre version, are specifically recommended for use as backbone cables only, not as tap cables. This specificity ensures signal robustness and integrity over longer segments, contributing to a reliable and linear network architecture.
Extended compatibility
The 010-11076-02 cable facilitates the integration of various Garmin devices compatible with NMEA 2000. It supports connections to AIS™ 300/600 transponders, GBT™ 10 sensors, GDL™ 40 modules, GHP™ 12 and GHP™ 20 autopilot systems, GMI™ 10/20 marine instruments, GPS 19x NMEA 2000® GPSMAP® receivers, and VHF 200/300 marine radios. It contributes to the creation of a stable linear network architecture, requiring proper terminations at each end and a 12 Vdc power supply via a dedicated power cable and a T-connector. The maximum backbone cable length for NMEA 2000 is 100 metres.
