Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin GC™ 100 wireless camera is a marine surveillance solution designed to provide flexible installation and seamless integration with Garmin navigation systems. Positioned as an alternative to traditional wired cameras such as the Garmin GC™ 200, the GC™ 100 eliminates video cabling constraints with its wireless connectivity. It is particularly suited for monitoring key areas on board, such as the engine room, aft deck, or mooring points, where permanent cable installation would be complex or undesirable.
Connectivity and Integration
The Garmin GC™ 100 operates on a 2.4 GHz wireless frequency with a nominal power of 17 dBm, ensuring a maximum operational range of 76 meters (250 feet) from the Garmin chartplotter. Integration with the Garmin chartplotter’s Wi-Fi network is simplified, requiring minimal configuration and quick pairing. The connection process involves pressing the camera button three times to activate pairing mode, indicated by a blue LED flashing, then selecting the "Garmin Camera" option in the chartplotter’s wireless device settings.
Robust Design and Flexible Power
Designed for the marine environment, the Garmin GC™ 100 wireless camera meets IEC 60529 IPX6/IPX7 waterproof standards. This means it resists powerful water jets and accidental immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes, ensuring durability against spray and harsh weather. Its operating temperature range is from -20°C to 60°C, and from 0°C to 45°C for charging, ensuring reliability in various climatic conditions. Power input is flexible, accepting 10 to 30 Vdc (1.5 A max.) and featuring an internal rechargeable battery for occasional use or installations without direct continuous power. The battery can be recharged via the powered mount or a Micro-USB cable (not included).
Installation and Features
Installation of the Garmin GC™ 100 is facilitated by an included mounting bracket, allowing secure attachment. A clearance of 10 cm (4 inches) is recommended as a safety distance for the compass. LED indicators provide clear visual status: three green flashes on power-up, three red flashes on power-down, a blue flash for Wi-Fi connection, and an orange flash to signal low battery. This camera enhances situational awareness and safety on board, offering additional visibility without the complexity of wired installations.
