Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin GC™ 200 marine IP camera is a robust and versatile monitoring solution designed to integrate seamlessly with Garmin navigation systems. This fixed camera provides enhanced visibility around the vessel, improving situational awareness for monitoring the deck, maneuvering areas, or immediate surroundings during docking or navigation.
Connectivity and Network Integration
The GC™ 200 is compatible with Garmin BlueNet™ networking technology and Garmin Marine Network devices. For Garmin BlueNet chartplotters, the connection is made directly via the included Garmin BlueNet cable. With a Garmin BlueNet 30 gateway, the camera can connect directly to a BlueNet device or, via the Garmin Marine Network adapter cable (not included with the product, reference 010-12531-01 if not provided), to a Garmin Marine Network device. For installations with only Garmin Marine Network devices, the use of this adapter is mandatory. This flexibility ensures simplified integration across various Garmin network configurations, from the latest to established setups. Unlike more complex solutions such as higher-end pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, the GC™ 200 is positioned as an essential and reliable fixed monitoring solution.
Performance and Technical Specifications
With dimensions of 87 x 79 mm (base W x H) and a weight of 520 g, the Garmin GC™ 200 is compact and easy to install. It features an IEC 60529 IPX7 waterproof rating, ensuring resistance to accidental immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes, making it perfectly suited for marine environments. Its wide horizontal field of view of 99.2 +/- 3 degrees and vertical field of view of 74 +/- 3 degrees provides extensive coverage. The built-in infrared function enables effective night vision up to 30 meters (98.4 feet), ensuring continuous monitoring even in complete darkness. The camera operates within a temperature range of -20 to 60°C (14 to 140°F), attesting to its robustness. It operates on an input voltage of 9 to 18 VDC, with a maximum power consumption of 5 W when infrared is active (370 mA) and 210 mA without infrared. For direct connection, a 1 A fast fuse is required (not included). For 24 VDC power, the use of a Garmin power module (010-12527-00, not included) is mandatory.
Installation and Mounting Flexibility
Installing the Garmin GC™ 200 marine IP camera is straightforward with clear instructions. It can be mounted upside down or sideways, with the option to invert the image for rear-view mode directly from the chartplotter. The process requires a drill (2 mm bit), a Pozidriv screwdriver, and the provided hex key. A Garmin power module (not included) can simplify installation by using a single cable for power and Ethernet, particularly useful when the camera is far from other electronic equipment, such as at the bow or on a mast. The safe distance from a magnetic compass is 10 cm (4 inches).
