Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin GMR™ 1234 xHD3 open-array radar and its pedestal form a 12 kW radar solution designed for offshore navigation and fishing. Featuring a 4-foot (122 cm) antenna and a maximum range of 96 nautical miles, it provides precise detection of targets, obstacles, and weather conditions.
Performance and advanced technologies
This xHD3 radar operates with a 12 kW transmission power and offers rotation speeds of 24 and 48 rpm. The 1.8° horizontal and 23° vertical beam widths ensure clear detection of distant targets. The GMR™ 1234 xHD3 integrates Scan Averaging technology to filter sea clutter and interference, improving target display. The angular adjustment of target size optimizes object shapes on screen, while True Echo Trails display movement history to quickly identify collision threats.
Smart navigation features
The GMR™ 1234 xHD3 allows dual-range with overlay on a compatible display, providing independent views for short and long ranges. Dynamic Auto Gain automatically adjusts gain levels for optimal performance in various environments. The bird mode (Auto Bird Gain) helps locate surface bird aggregations, indicating potential fishing zones. For safety, it offers MARPA target tracking (up to 30 targets, with appropriate sensors sold separately) and a Guard Zone to alert in case of intrusion. Variable range markers and electronic bearing lines facilitate distance and bearing measurements.
Integration and marine robustness
This open-array radar complies with IPX6 waterproofing standards. It supports a maximum wind load of 80 knots, extendable to 100 knots with an optional voltage converter. Power is supplied via a 10-32 VDC input, with a standby consumption of 18 W and 70 W during normal transmission. The array dimensions are 1325 x 122 x 170 mm and the pedestal measures 520 x 328 x 314 mm, for a total weight of 27.7 kg. Its silent drive motor ensures discreet operation on board.
