Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for advanced marine navigation, the Garmin GMR Fantom™ 24x radome (part number 010-02585-10) is a 24-inch solid-state radar system with a 50-watt output power. This model, from the current Fantom lineup, detects targets up to a maximum range of 48 nautical miles and a minimum range of 20 feet. Its rotation speed reaches 60 rpm, ensuring rapid screen refresh for improved detection of movements, including at high speeds.
Advanced technologies and features
The GMR Fantom™ 24x integrates MotionScope™ technology, which uses the Doppler effect to identify and display moving targets with different colors on the chartplotter, indicating their direction (toward or away from the vessel). This feature is useful for navigating around other boats or detecting weather conditions. The dual-range function allows simultaneous radar images on a split screen, with independent range settings and controls for close and distant views.
Other features of the GMR Fantom™ 24x include an energy-saving mode and a timed transmission mode to optimize power consumption, as well as the ability to adjust target size on screen. Auto Bird Gain, Dynamic Auto Gain, and Dynamic Sea Filter functions automatically adjust settings for optimal performance and clearer radar images by reducing sea clutter. True Echo Trails help identify moving targets and potential collision threats. A guard zone can be configured to alert the user when an object enters it. The MARPA system (Mini-Automatic Radar Plotting Aid) enables automatic acquisition and tracking of up to 30 targets, identifying collision threats. Radar overlay displays radar images on compatible chartplotter maps.
Connectivity and compatibility
This radome is compatible with Garmin GPSMAP chartplotters from the 7x2 Plus, 7x3, 9x2 Plus, 9x3, 10x2, 12x2, 12x3, 7400, 7600, and 8000 series. It features Garmin BlueNet™ network technology for fast connectivity and is compatible with existing Garmin Marine Network systems via an optional adapter cable (part number 010-12531-01). The radar beam has a horizontal width of 3.7 degrees and a vertical width of 25 degrees. The unit operates on 10 to 32 V DC power. The product includes a mounting template, M8 x 1.25 x 60 threaded rods, flat and spring washers, hex nuts, anti-seize compound, and a Garmin BlueNet cable.
