Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin GPSMAP 65 is a portable GPS tracker designed for land and marine navigation, offering advanced positioning accuracy by supporting multiple satellite systems. This model stands out for its ability to simultaneously receive and track signals from multiple GNSS constellations (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and IRNSS), ensuring fast and reliable location, even in the most demanding environments. Positioned in Garmin’s range of rugged portable GPS devices, it serves as a versatile solution for users requiring precise navigation without compromising portability. It differs from large dedicated marine chartplotters like the ECHOMAP series or GPSMAP chartplotter combos with its compact format and AA battery or NiMH battery power.
Navigation features and customization
The device provides comprehensive tools for managing waypoints, routes, and tracks, essential for detailed route planning and tracking. It allows you to create, edit, and navigate to waypoints, define complex routes, and record tracks for precise return navigation. The GPSMAP 65 also includes an electronic compass for constant orientation, a barometric altimeter for accurate altitude data, and configurable marine alerts, area calculation functions, and geocaching support with chirp™ compatibility. Its versatility makes it suitable for various activities, from hiking to light boating.
Connectivity and data management
Thanks to ANT+ and Bluetooth technologies, the GPSMAP 65 offers extended connectivity options. It can pair with compatible ANT+ external sensors (such as the tempe™ for temperature) and connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth for receiving notifications and integration with the Garmin Explore™ app. This connectivity simplifies geocache downloads, navigation data synchronization, and route management via Garmin Adventures and BaseCamp™. Memory can be expanded using a microSD card, allowing integration of additional maps such as City Navigator. Powered by AA batteries or a NiMH battery, it provides flexible power with optimized power-saving mode.
