The Garmin GSD™ 25 Advanced Sonar Module is an advanced sonar solution designed for Garmin marine navigation systems, delivering high-performance underwater detection. This compact module integrates traditional sonar capabilities, single-channel and dual-channel CHIRP, as well as SideVü and DownVü CHIRP, positioning it as a central element for detailed situational awareness beneath the water.
Advanced Sonar Capabilities
The GSD™ 25 delivers an RMS transmission power of 1 kW, enabling exceptional penetration and resolution. It supports traditional sonar frequencies of 50/77/83 kHz, essential for various depths and bottom types. For superior clarity and better target separation, it operates in single-channel and dual-channel CHIRP across a wide range of 40 kHz to 250 kHz. The SideVü and DownVü CHIRP technologies, operating at 455/800 kHz and 260/455 kHz, provide near-photographic images of structures and fish beneath and beside the vessel. This versatility sets it apart from traditional sonar modules by offering a complete view of the underwater environment.
Robust Design and System Integration
Measuring 251 x 66 x 192 mm and weighing 771 g, the GSD™ 25 is housed in a fully waterproof polycarbonate plastic housing, compliant with IEC 60529 IPX7 waterproofing standards, ensuring resistance to temporary immersion. It operates within an extended temperature range of -15°C to 70°C and requires a 10 to 35 Vdc power supply with a maximum consumption of 27 W and a 4.0 A fuse. Integration into the Garmin marine network is straightforward via a GMS™ 10 network port expander or directly to a compatible chartplotter. The safe distance for the compass is 30 cm. LED indicators provide quick diagnostics of the module's status, from chartplotter connection to system error detection, facilitating troubleshooting and operational monitoring.
