Designed for anglers, the Garmin GT20-TM transducer is an all-in-one depth sounder that combines traditional HD-ID and ClearVü™ technologies. This model serves as a versatile solution for vessels requiring accurate sonar data on the water column and seabed structure. With 500 W of power for each technology, it delivers reliable detection across various fishing conditions.
Integrated Sonar Technologies
The GT20-TM transducer integrates traditional HD-ID sonar, operating on frequencies of 77/200 kHz, capable of reaching depths of 579 meters (1,900 feet). This technology is recognized for its ability to display clear fish arches and accurately track the seabed. Meanwhile, the ClearVü™ sonar operates on frequencies of 455/800 kHz (CHIRP 435–475 kHz and 800–840 kHz), providing near-photographic images of submerged structures and fish beneath the boat, with a maximum range of 228 meters (750 feet). A temperature sensor is also integrated, providing an additional environmental data point. This type of transducer, with its dual technology, stands out from traditional single-frequency sounders or more advanced models like SideVü sounders, which offer lateral coverage in addition to ClearVü.
Installation and Connectivity
The GT20-TM transducer features a 6-meter (20-foot) cable with a 4-pin connector, enabling direct connection to compatible Garmin sonar ports. This design simplifies installation by eliminating the need for external modules. The transducer comes with the necessary accessories for installation on a transom or on an electric motor, adapting to different boat types and usage preferences. It supports a transom angle of 0 to 70 degrees, offering installation flexibility across a wide range of hulls. For optimal performance, it should be installed away from turbulence and propeller wash, and is suitable for speeds under 34 mph.
