Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin TD 50 is a 5-inch touchscreen display interface, specifically designed to integrate seamlessly into the Garmin Marine Network. Unlike a standalone chartplotter, this screen serves as a remote control and display unit, requiring a connection to one or more compatible Garmin chartplotters via the Garmin Marine Network to function fully. It provides a flexible extension solution for managing navigation data and onboard systems.
Advanced integration and connectivity
The Garmin TD 50 excels in extended connectivity. It is compatible with the NMEA 2000 network, Garmin Marine Network, and the EmpirBus system, ensuring seamless integration with a wide range of sensors and instruments. It supports numerous NMEA 2000 PGNs, including product information (61184, 126996), group function management (126208, 126464), system time (126992), rudder data (127245), vessel heading (127250), engine parameters (127488, 127489), battery status (127508), speed (128259), depth (128267), GNSS position data (129025, 129026, 129029, 129539), navigation data (129283, 129284, 129285), and environmental parameters such as wind (130306), temperature (130312), humidity (130313), and pressure (130314). This interfacing capability makes it an essential complement to complex navigation systems, similar to multifunction displays but without inherent chart processing capabilities, focusing instead on user interaction.
Robust design and display performance
With dimensions of 105 x 140 x 51 mm (without cover) and a weight of 328 g, the Garmin TD 50 features a compact form factor ideal for flush mounting. Its fully waterproof polycarbonate housing and glass lens with anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint coating provide robustness suited to the marine environment. It has an IPX7 (IEC 60529) ingress protection rating, ensuring resistance to temporary immersion. The display offers a brightness of 1200 cd/m² (NIT), guaranteeing excellent readability even in bright sunlight. Its operating temperature range is from -15°C to 55°C, and its maximum power consumption is 5.85 W, with an NMEA 2000 input voltage of 9 to 16 Vdc. The safe distance from the compass is 20 cm.
