Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for precise and detailed navigation, the Garmin VEU012R chartplotter covers the central and western Mediterranean, from Llafranc, Spain, to Crotone, Italy. This area includes the coastlines of France, Monaco, western Italy, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, and Malta. It also provides detailed coverage of several lakes in northern Italy, such as Lago Maggiore, Lago D'Iseo, Lago di Garda, Lac Léman, and Lago di Lugano.
Chart Data and Advanced Features
The Garmin VEU012R combines Garmin and Navionics chart data for enhanced clarity and detail. It offers bathymetric contours down to 30 cm (1 foot), enabling accurate representation of underwater structures for navigation and fishing. The depth shading feature displays up to 10 different depth ranges, while customizable shallow water shading highlights areas to avoid.
Navigation Assistance and Imagery
The Auto Guidance or Auto Guidance+ technology calculates optimal routes based on user-specified depth and clearance, simplifying harbor-to-harbor navigation. High-resolution relief shading provides clearer views of bottom profiles, helping identify shoals and submerged structures. This feature is available as a free download via the ActiveCaptain® app. High-resolution satellite imagery overlaid on charts enhances situational awareness, particularly when approaching unfamiliar harbors. MarinerEye and FishEye views offer 3D perspectives above and below the waterline, enriching the navigation experience. The chartplotter also includes detailed aerial photographs of ports, marinas, and navigation marks.
Updates and Community
Users receive daily chart updates for one year, with up to 5,000 daily updates delivered via the ActiveCaptain® app. The app also provides access to community content, including points of interest (POIs) such as marinas, anchorages, and hazards, with recommendations from other boaters. The dynamic lake level feature adjusts charts based on current water levels. Object-oriented mapping allows users to select an object on the chart to display detailed information, such as the light characteristics of a buoy or navigation aid.
